KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.55 g, 3 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-305 BC. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet adorned with a pellet. Rev. [B]AΣIΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Nike standing front, head to left, with her wings spread, holding laurel wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to lower left, monogram of MYP within wreath. CNG 102 (2016), 590 (same obverse die). Price 3749 var. (helmet ornament). SC 81.3 var. (helmet ornament). A rare variety. A lustrous and sharply struck example. Very minor deposits, otherwise, virtually as struck.
